Phuket golf holidays

Thailand is geographically about the same size as France and a little bit bigger than California. The Asian country houses more than 300 quality golf courses and golfers who love to travel should definitely visit Thailand. Most travellers will most likely know Phuket. The destination featured in worldwide news broadcasts in December 2004 when the Tsunami hit the island’s coast. Two months ago I flew to Bangkok and onwards with a connecting service to Phuket. I stayed here for one week and played some golf at various courses.

I wanted to see with my own eyes how the reconstruction activities and the beach clean-up had progressed. Well, I was truly impressed. Amazingly the beach areas never looked so fabulous and numerous resorts were efficiently upgraded. For a while I intensely enjoyed the wonderful tropical scenery, which is also offered by nearly each golf course on the island. Endlessly I kept on reaching for my camera! The golf course on Phuket which I liked the best is known as the Blue Canyon Country Club. This spacious sports facility features two courses and is ideally located within a short drive from Phuket International Airport. Blue Canyon Country Club is a championship course and even the world-famous Tiger Woods has golfed here. What I truly appreciate, is Phuket’s unique blend of forests, mountains, ocean, jungle and world-class golf. Although there are numerous attractions for the perfect holiday, I prefer a cocktail of early morning golf, and during the afternoon hang around several of the nearby positioned popular beaches.

Phuket boasts stunning beaches 

Today, Thailand has six international air hubs, positioned throughout the country. If you are flying from Europe, you might have the option to travel onboard a direct service into the “Pearl of the Andaman”. Once you’ve arrived, arrange a golf package on-the-spot and off you go!

During the last two decades, Thailand has become one of the finest golf holiday destinations in South East Asia. Phuket offers outstanding golfing nearby the Andaman Sea, which houses a rich and varied marine life. The barbecued seafood on the main beaches is a must for gastronomists.

Another course which deserves to be mentioned here is the Laguna Phuket Golf Course. This five-star course charges slightly higher green fees but it is definitely worth it.
