Phuket’s Patong Beach never sleeps

The incredibly popular Patong beach is positioned within less than ten miles from Phuket Town. This famous nightlife area resides between the beaches of Karon and Kalim. Having the reputation as Phuket’s fun capital, Patong boasts a wide range of nightlife venues, resorts, hotels, international restaurants and many other tourist facilities.

The entire Patong area can easily be explored on foot. However, there are other ways to get around Patong as well. The typically Thai songthaew (pick-up truck converted into a taxi) can easily be recognised due to the vehicle’s bright red colour. For a small fee of just 20 baht they can bring you from downtown Phuket Town to Patong Beach and vice versa. The ride usually takes about 45 minutes. Another transport option is provided by the noisy tuk-tuk but these vehicles are not metered so you are recommended to agree on the fee before commencing the ride. Despite the current high fuel prices, a short trip shouldn’t cost more than 100 baht.

Getting around Phuket

During your holiday on Phuket it will be very hard to get bored as this booming destination offers numerous of things to see and do. During daytime activities such as scuba diving, parasailing, boating, jet-skiing and windsurfing are very popular.
Seeing a lady boy cabaret show might be fun at night or stroll along Patong’s vibrant Bang La road. After sunset this road comes alive with its many disco clubs, pubs, bars and naughty go-go venues. The area can get extremely crowded but it is also pleasurable to just sit back and unwind while listening to some good music.
