The unspoilt province of Trang
Posted by admin on January 16th, 2009 filed in Activities, Day tripping, Tourist tipsTrang is a beautiful city in southern Thailand with a population of about 600,000. In former centuries the city used to be a pivotal commercial port. Trang provided a significant port of entry for Western travellers during the Ayuthaya period. For many consecutive years the city has been awarded as Thailand’s cleanest town. Some of the country’s finest fresh markets take place here as well and strolling around them gives you the opportunity to experience the locals’ daily life. However, most visiting tourists come to explore the province’s islands and superb beaches.
Like the Phang Nga and Krabi provinces, Trang boasts landscapes featuring limestone rock formations with caves along with magnificent sandy beach areas facing stunning picturesque islands. Apart from the attractive tropic islands, the province’s territory is blessed with waterfalls, caves, lakes and hot springs. One of the most stunning natural environments can be found about 12.5 miles north of the provincial capital.
The 74 miles-long coast is dotted with houses while the ocean’s clear water reflects the white clouds in the blue sky.

The province boasts fertile forests and excellent fishing spots. Positioned in the north, the 47 islands belong to Chao Mai National Park. The Petra Island National Park houses the southern situated islands. The appealing white sandy beaches, wonderful caves, sparkling clear waters and the range of corals in the deep as well as in the shallow water are a must for tourists to explore.
