Chalong Bay is a boating hub as it provides boats with a sheltered harbour. The region is a starting point for activities such as diving, snorkeling and fishing. At the pier you will find charter boats to organise trips to the nearby islands. Boats leave to Phi Phi, Rach Islands and Dok Mai. Boats usually depart on charters between sunrise and 9am and they return at sunset.

Chalong Bay is also popular for yachting and the Ao Chalong Yacht club is based in the area. Chalong Bay has a 720-meter long jetty and all necessary facilities such as shops, bars and restaurants. Other services include a customs office and marine rescue center.

A recommended activity is to head to Promthep Cape which is renowned for it’s beautiful sunsets. Alternatively enjoy a cocktail at one of the bars on the beachfront while watching the sun go down. Tourists can learn to kite surf at one of the local kite surfing schools.

For dinner, head to the restaurants near the Chalong traffic circle or the beachfront where many expats spend their time. If you are tired from all the sporting activity relax at a herbal sauna, Reiki center or massage shop.

Chalong beach is not ideal for swimming but trips to the surrounding islands offer swimming opportunities. You can also make a day trip to Friendship Beach, which is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the views over the bay.

An alternative is to go to Siray Island, which is attached to Chalong by a canal. Here you can visit fishing villages and religious sites. Lon Island is only 20 minutes from Chalong Bay and this region also boasts beautiful beaches.
