The Phuket Butterfly Garden is an absolutely beautiful way to spend a morning or afternoon during your stay in Phuket. The garden is designed specifically for breeding exotic butterflies and moths, and is full of colourful butterflies, including around 40 native butterfly species in Thailand. Walking around the Butterfly Garden, it is easy to lose track of time as you surround yourself in the beautiful colours of the butterflies as well as the lush tropical flora and fauna of the Butterfly Garden’s pristine surrounds. There is a very peaceful and tranquil nature to this place which is always a welcome relief for those coming from the hustle and bustle of Patong and other popular tourist areas of Phuket.

There is also a variety of displays and exhibitions teaching you about the life-cycle of the butterflies, as well as their natural habitats. There is also an insectarium where a number of insects are bred, as well as an area housing native fish and coral which is particularly stunning. Children can even enjoy feeding the fish here, making it a great place to bring the kids.

Before leaving, visitors should make sure they visit the Butterfly Garden’s small but fascinating silk museum which shows how the cacoon turns into expensive silk. There is also a bar and cafe area to keep you well fed and refreshed with an impressive stock of delicious food and beverages.

The Butterfly Garden is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Admission is very reasonable, and it is very easy to access the Butterfly Garden as the farm is well sign-posted.
