From the boat to the plane

Posted by Andaman Sam on March 29th, 2013 filed in Tourist tips, Uncategorized

‘From the boat to the plane’, this is the name of the new project that the Phuket Marine Office proposes to transport visitors to and from the Phuket International Airport. It appears that traffic has gotten so bad on the roads near the airport that authorities are in search of other ways for people to and from the airport and their Phuket holiday destinations.

A boat is actually an excellent idea, through the budget has not yet been approved to build a pier that will allow for this. This will cut back on travel time, which means that visitors have more time on the beach or in bed, as travel time to the airport will be drastically cut. At the moment many visitors leave hours in advance to avoid being stuck in traffic and missing their flight. The journey from Patong to the airport by boat will take around 25 minutes, while by road it is at least one hour, if not more.

If the proposal is approved then the boats will be transporting people as early as next year. If not, than visitors will have to continue as they are, taking taxis, buses or hire cars to and from their holiday destination to the airport. More information about airport transportation can be found here.
